Dog Park
Hisey Park features the Park District's only off-leash dog park.
Here are some tips for a great experience at the dog park:
- Always supervise your dog closely to ensure it is playing safely and not exhibiting aggressive behavior toward other dogs.
- Know Your Dog's Temperament. If your dog has a history of aggression or doesn't do well with other dogs, it might be best to work on their social skills before visiting the park.
- Leash Up When Entering or Exiting. Keep your dog leashed when coming to and leaving the off-leash area to avoid unexpected interactions with other dogs or people outside the park.
- Stay Up-to-Date on Vaccinations. Make sure your dog’s vaccinations are current to protect both your dog and others from potential diseases.
- Clean Up After Your Dog. Always bring waste bags and promptly clean up after your dog to help keep the park clean and enjoyable for everyone.
- Bring Only a Few Dogs at a Time. If you have multiple dogs, consider bringing just one or two at a time to keep things manageable and ensure you're able to monitor them properly.
- Avoid Bringing Puppies or Dogs in Heat. Puppies under four months old and female dogs in heat are more vulnerable and might not be suitable for the dog park environment.
- Skip the Snacks. Avoid bringing food or treats, as they can trigger competition or jealousy among dogs, leading to potential scuffles.
Following these tips can help create a safe and positive experience for you, your dog, and everyone else at the park!
